About Us

Optical Science Club Mission State:
The purpose of the Optical Science club shall be to promote the
discipline of Optical Science and Engineering through the
organized efforts of its members on campus and in the community;
to further the technical and professional development of its
members; to serve as a casual social center for its members.
2007 SPIE Annual Report UC Davis Chapter

The Majority of students in Optics Club
are majoring in Optical Science and Engineering. We are studying
under the Department of Applied Science in the University of
California, Davis. Optical Science and Engineering majors are
prepared in fields such as telecommunications, lasers, spectroscopy,
biophotonics and lots more. In addition, the low student-to-staff
ratio provides Optical Engineers with plenty of research
opportunities and personal attention.
Members of the Optics Club have the
opportunity to attend events and conferences, speak with students in
local high schools and colleges about Optics, network (and even have
lunch!) with engineers in optics-related fields, and work on various
Optics-related projects.
